Smash Burger

Ingredients

  • to taste white onion, chopped
  • 8 1000 g ground beef (80/20), portioned into 125g balls
  • to taste mayonnaise
  • 4 burger buns
  • to taste salt
  • 8 American cheese slices
  • to taste burger sauce
  • to taste mustard

Method

  1. Chop the white onion.
  2. Portion the burger meat into 125g balls, loosely packed by hand.
  3. Spread a thin layer of mayo on the buns.
  4. Heat the pan on high heat. Partway through heating, toast the buns.
  5. When the pan is at full heat, drop two of the balls onto the hot surface and immediately smash them down flat. Salt once smashed.
  6. After 2 minutes, flip the patties. Add a slice of American cheese and put a lid on the pan.
  7. Wait 30 seconds to 1 minute for the cheese to melt, then remove the burgers.
  8. Garnish with raw yellow onion, burger sauce, and mustard.
